Hi all,

due to popular demand (and a number of people saying it ’smells like Toilet Duck) we have replaced the Citrus Delight perfume in the Enterprise Soapbox kits and refill kits with a much more acceptable ‘Baby Powder’ scented perfume! Obviously this gives yet more choice for schools and organisations that make soap for sale to attract new markets.

With the workshop packs we have created designing soap for babies and children is a close second behind sports and glamorous people, so updating the perfume choice made a lot of sense to us.

If anyone would like a sample of the scent - or to suggest another alternative, please get in touch!

As well as Sir Alan’s Apprentices, we’ve been doing some homework and sums on the whole idea of Business Days using Enterprise Soapbox. As well as the hands-on fun students and staff experience, there’s a load of real-world business learning that can come from using Enterprise Soapbox.

As the year comes to a close and you’re looking for a way to help students relax, yet learn as well, why not try using Enterprise Soapbox as a fun super-learning / STEM / Time-Out activity?

Those of you who watched The Apprentice last night (BBC1, 15th April) will have seen the teams battling it out to create a new cosmetic product - as part of the challenge to become Sir Alan’s next Apprentice.

This is, of course, nothing new to the the thousands of students who have made soap products and sold them up and down the UK since January 2007! Hundreds of schools now use Enterprise Soapbox to deliver enterprise challenges, workshops and business start-up training all over England, Wales and Scotland.

Hi, we hope you had a great Easter!

During the half-term holiday, we took the opportunity to get crafty with the Enterprise Soapbox kit and inspired by the giving of cakes and sweet things, we decided to have a go at making some confectionery-based soap gifts.

If you have a look at the gallery on this site there are loads of  pictures of what appear to be fairy cakes and cheesecake - these are in fact all soap products and just go a little way to showing what can be done with the Soapbox Kit!

…we have been busy developing new elements of the soapbox package.

As well as improving the delivery options for the SoapScience4YourSchool workshop programme with new business plannning / break-even, marketing and team-roles we’ve also just invested in a vacuum former.

After continuing supply issues from our mould suppliers and a limited range of moulds we’ve decided to branch out into manufacturing our own! As well as a set of standard moulds, we will be looking at developing bespoke moulds in a variety of sizes and a number of customer options that you can choose yourselves!

In the meantime, we have the usual stock levels of Enterprise Soapbox replenished so if you have some budget from last year to use up, we can supply you quickly from stock before the end of March.

We’re delighted that both Dundee and Aberdeen’s Science Centres have deceided to use Enterprise Soapbox to demonstrate soapmaking to students in Scotland.  Shabnam Wasim at Sensation, The Dundee Science Centre, has developed the workshop with Satrosphere in Aberdeen for S1 and S2 students as it helps to meet the needs of the Curriculum for Excellence.

Hello everyone!

Just a quick post to say a big THANK YOU for helping to make 2008 the biggest and best year for Enterprise Soapbox. As well as adding a new starter pack product to the lines (which was requested by our Primary customers) we delivered SoapScience4YourSchool to an unprecedented number of students…we reckon about 5000 students in the UK have made soap products with our workshops in 2007/08!

In addition to this number we’ve personally worked with, thousands have been involved in workshops run by their own school using the kits. What a clean lot you are! One such school is New Charter Academy in Oldham who, on 18th December,will be using Enterprise Soapbox to deliver an Enterprise Day to 300 students in 10 class-sized groups. This is the most ambitious event we have heard of and is thanks to the Head, George Lloyd with support from Enterprise Mentor Geoff Kay at Broughton B&E School in Preston.

As we move into the Christmas period and reflect on the last year we can see that 2009 will potentially mean hard times for the country and all of us as we try to earn our pay. The message from the story above and from the inspiration I receive on a daily basis from working with our great students around the country is that AMBITION IS CRUCIAL to a successful future. Aiming for the top is nothing to be ashamed of and if we all tried to be OURSELVES PLUS 10% then it’s amazing what we can achieve.
